March 26 - May 3, 2024

Teach.Learn.Inspire features seven of GVA’s art instructors showcasing their varied and unique artistic talents in drawing, painting, pottery, sculpture, photography, and mixed media collage. We are proud to have Jennifer Broadus, Debbie Craig, Ann Marie Dalis, Deborah Karwisch, Cullen Peck, Tom Quinn, and Lynn St. Clair among our teaching faculty. They represent a larger faculty of extraordinary talent.

Jennifer Broadus is well-known for her stunning oil landscapes depicting scenic motifs from coastal Georgia and her travels stateside and abroad. She has shown in galleries in Buffalo, Atlanta, Hilton Head, Jacksonville, Taos, and St. Simons and has won numerous awards throughout the Southeast. She is also a photographer with a career in freelance illustrating in advertising and publishing, working as a New York art director, and serving as Creative Director of Broadus Advertising and Publishing. At GVA she teaches acrylic and oil workshops.

Debbie Craig is an avid potter and pottery teacher. She instructs the children’s pottery classes and summer workshops at GVA. She also serves on the adjunct faculty at Coastal College of Georgia. Craig was featured in Golden Isles magazine in February 2020 in the article “The Making of Mud Mama.” She began creating pottery as a student at the University of Georgia and has taught at GVA for over 30 years.

Ann Marie Dalis is a multi-media artist working in pottery, drawing, mixed media, and watercolor. She’s a former art teacher for 6th-12th grades at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School in Augusta, GA and was honored to be an artist-in-residence at Sapelo Island.  Dalis has initiated fundraising for artistic endeavors through art markets and the Empty Bowl. Her art has been exhibited in Jekyll Island, Augusta, and St. Simons. At GVA, she teaches drawing, clay, paper making, and watercolor.

Deborah Karwisch is the GVA Pottery Studio Manager. Deborah has been hand building and turning pots on the wheel since about 2001 when she took classes under three different instructors at the Mable House Arts Center near her home in south Cobb County.   Deborah and her husband took workshops and classes at the John C. Campbell Folk School, Mudfire, and The Art Place.  She began teaching pottery to children and adult beginners in 2003, adding homeschool classes a few years later.  During summer months when adult classes weren't available at the arts center, Deborah taught hand building classes and workshops in her home studio.

Cullen Peck is from Atlanta and studied art in Florence, Italy, after receiving her BA from New York University. Her unique, representative style is contemporary figurative painting, and her children are often her delightful subject matter. Her images capture moments in the daily life of children and parents. Peck’s art has been exhibited in Atlanta, Italy, St. Simons, and many other Georgia locations. Peck teaches figure drawing workshops at GVA.

Tom Quinn is a popular instructor for beginner and advanced drawing students at GVA. As well as being a graphite artist, Quinn  paints in watercolor, his favorite medium, and oils. He has a 45-year career in graphic arts having served as the Creative Director at American Intercontinental University, adjunct professor at the Atlanta College of Art, Creative Specialist at a southeastern archaeology company, and Education Chairman at the Atlanta Artists Center.

Lynn St. Clair is a well-loved, dedicated watercolor instructor at GVA. Her class meets every Friday morning. She also loves printmaking, creating greeting cards, and illustrating in publications. A graduate of Syracuse University, her art has been exhibited from New England to Georgia and California and is included in numerous private collections. St. Clair is an artist member of the Copley Society of Boston.
