July 6, 2023 - The Brunswick News - GVA to host new exhibition ‘Then & Now: Art of the Lowcountry’

If art were a body, its cell structure would be a perplexing phenomenon. Membranes would blur. Organelles would diverge. Its functions would intertwine throughout the whole system.

But in the cell that is Glynn County, one thing’s for certain — its nucleus would be Glynn Visual Arts (GVA).

June 30, 2023 - The Brunswick News - GVA offers art club for teens

Teens crowd around a worktable, conversation flowing as easily as paint from their upended cups as they pour color onto canvas cloth.

The sound of laughter as they sweep brushes into their hands and peek their heads over each other’s workspaces leaves no room for doubt — the Teen Art Club is in full swing at Glynn Visual Arts.

… Netherton moved to St. Simons Island in 2004 and has been painting the area’s coastal landscapes ever since. He is a member of Glynn Visual Arts (fondly known as GVA), the local nonprofit community arts center and fine art gallery.

Betty Oliver has deep roots in the Golden Isles. With those come longstanding memories especially of growing up on St. Simons Island.

And one place features prominently in most of them — Glynn Visual Arts. She was an early student there as it was getting its start.

July 29, 2021 – Events - Coastal Illustrated: EventsThrough Aug. 7 The Big Photo Show will be on exhibit from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at Glynn Visual Arts, 106 Island Drive, St. Simons Island. A virtual awards ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. July 15, and will also be live-streamed on Facebook Live. Community members may vote for the Duke Smith People’s Choice Award through July 14.
